GMIA First Town Hall Meeting 2021

On 4th February 2021, GMIA hosted the first in a series of Town Hall Meeting to update and collect the thoughts and concerns of the U.K Gospel Music Community.
As an organisation, we would like to say a big thank you to the nearly 100 attendees for what turned out to be a very informative, productive, promising and hopeful meeting.

By partnering with a wide range of industry education, music business and funding organisations, we curate and promote beneficial workshops that help strengthen projects and guide on funding applications.
We also aim to deliver specialised sessions, such as our Artists Clinics, which focus on the creatives careers, industry personnel development and best practice when it comes to navigating the industry.

GMIA plans to host Practitioners sessions and networking opportunities in collaboration with relative organisations. This will include song-writing, managers, producers and promoter forums etc.

Currently we have six Regional Coordinators in place across the UK, Scotland and Ireland. Our aim is to establish service Regional Hubs through access to funding and connecting partnerships that will support locally. There is a process of research and development required to make this all possible.

GMIA will launch a campaign inviting researchers and practitioners in our community to submit research papers, thesis, studies and findings to our LEGACY LIBRARY.
Alongside our in-house Music Historian, Kevin Tomlin, we have also identified a Professor of Music Research to build surveys and gather feedback from your community to collate relevant data.
FOLLOW UP ACTIONS: We are inviting our gospel enthusiast, lecturers, professors, doctorate to submit their research, reports, articles and papers that outline the history, influence, impact or findings of UK Gospel Music to contribute to the GMIA Legacy Library.
