GMIA STATEMENT

…A New Phase Of United Working – Takes Place With Immediate Effect…

Following a series of robust meetings that began on 11th July 2019, initiated by O’Neil Dennis (aStepFwd.com) and Adebayo Abimbola (7GospelTracks.com), GMIA (Gospel Music Industry Alliance) has emerged as the confirmed organisation through which a new phase of united working takes place – with immediate effect – in the British Gospel sector.

Juliet Fletcher, GMIA Co-Founder, who has been operating (temporarily) in the role of CEO, states, “The Executive Board members and I are very pleased about the decisions that, although there has been some challenges, we’ve been able to work constructively in the pace of change to ensure we are capturing this unique moment for long-term benefit by all and for all concerned”.

An assigned and adopted GMIA Sub-committee, chaired by O’Neil Dennis, hammered out the details and the process has already begun to achieve the following:

The GMIA Board of Directors (currently three) gets a massive influx with six new Directors to be appointed before October. The UK Gospel community will determine who the new Directors will be through a national Nomination Committee.

To Achieve this the UK has been split into six regions with each responsible for selecting two individuals (plus a third from the most populous) to make up the voting Nominations Committee:

1. Ireland (2)

2. Scotland (2)

3. North (2)

4. Midlands (2)

5. South East & London (3)

6. South West & Wales (2)

Upon selection the new Board of Directors governing the organisation will, at their first meeting, elect a chairperson. They will also appoint a new Chief Executive Officer who will have the responsibility of putting into place a management / operation team to assist in carrying out the day-to-day work of the organisation.

Juliet Fletcher added, “This is an exciting time for GMIA. The fact that this effort is driven by the current stream of young Gospel entrepreneurs is significant to our sector’s future. It is both a welcome influx of more individuals from around the UK to keep the vision of a visibly united representative body alive and an answer to prayer for the greater support to implement an extensive impacting national strategy. We therefore look forward to the new board members being installed and then, with them, prioritise the various projects that will benefit our Subscribers as they serve communities everywhere”.

A promotional campaign has begun to attract new subscribing members of the Gospel Music community to sign up to GMIA so that through their voting powers they can continue to influence the decisions and shape the vision and activities of the organisation for the present and the future.
